Job Description

STG International is currently seeking System Specialist candidates that possess significant knowledge in Child Care and Head Start services especially related to systems to support our Head Start Training and Technical Assistance team in Region 4. The System Specialist (SS) will participate on a regional team to identify cross-system coordination between the Office of Child Care and the Office of Head Start within the Region. The SS must reside within 50 miles of the Regional Office located in Atlanta, GA.

  • Participate on a regional team to link TTA resources and training to the Child Care Resources and Referral network and other such organizations, as appropriate.
  • Participate on a regional team to provide information, consultation, and technical assistance to TTA staff on work related to coordination and collaboration between Head Start and child care programs. 
  • Participate on a regional team to aggregate and analyze regional data related to Head Start and child care collaboration to identify cross-system coordination and collaboration issues such as the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS). 
  • Provide direct TTA to Head Start/Early Head Start grantees at the direction of the Regional Office 
  • Incorporate other tasks reflective of evolving national priorities as presented by the Office of Head Start, National Centers, regional Offices and/or aggregate regional assessment data.

    Required Skills: 

  • Ability to utilize resources, research and available technology to appropriately provide guidance to TTA staff regarding cross-system coordination from the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC), National Centers and other Office of Head Start national resources. 
  • Ability to develop, train and provide presentations to individuals, small and large groups. 
  • Familiarity with the Improving School Readiness for Head Start Act of 2007, Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, OHS Monitoring Protocols and processes, and knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations as they apply to all facets of cross-system coordination. 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. 
  • Sustained concentration and attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Required Experience

    Required Experience: 

  • A minimum of a BA or a BS, with a preference for a Master’s Degree, from an accredited university or college in early childhood education, child development or related degree. If the highest degree was awarded more than ten years ago, the resume should be specific regarding such events as courses, conferences, seminars attended that ensure the specialist remains current in their field. 
  • A minimum of seven years of experience. At least 3 years with the provision of technical assistance and consultation to Head Start and child care programs is preferred; at least 3 years’ experience working with partnerships such as partnerships among Head Start/Early Head Start, child care and stat prekindergarten programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in developing successful collaborations within state early childhood systems, familiarity with Head Start Program Performance Standards and other regulations; state child care licensing standards and regulations; and QRIS. 
  • Knowledge of state systems in the ACF region. 
  • Demonstrated ability to aggregate and analyze relevant data from multiple sources and provide comprehensive reports. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, to various audiences; 
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to transportation.
