This position performs inspections, testing, maintenance and repairs of fire alarm detection and suppression systems.


  • Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components.
  • Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors and system transmitters on all equipment.
  • Makes necessary repairs to equipment following manufacturer’s specifications and National Fire Protection Association Standards.
  • Checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers.
  • Recharges or replaces containers as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent GEDplus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water/clean agent based systems and suppression system control panels. Current National Institute for Certifying Engineering Technologies (NICET) LVL III for Fire Alarm Systems. NICET Level III certification Water Based Fire Suppression Systems, NICET Level IV Special Hazards Fire Suppression Systems, ICC/NAFED for Portable Fire Extinguishers and Pre-Engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing Systems, and be trained in accordance with NFPA Standards. Basic Explosive Safety Technology NFPA-72 training every 3 years. Meet all training requirements to remain proficient with the latest versions of the Notifier ONYX Works platform for intelligent fire alarm notification systems with voice evacuation. Certified and trained by MONACO to maintain the D21 Central Receiving Station. Ability to obtain government secret clearance, a valid Georgia Driver’s License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.


  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Knowledge of the practices and procedure of fire alarm system installation, maintenance and repair.

    Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees and customers.


    Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.


    The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 75 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.


    Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.
